RESULTS - Stableford Competition at Vintage on Saturday 24 August 2024
Another terrific Londoner event is in the books! In the end 38 players competed, all drove through rain to the course and were grateful as the storms by-passed us during play. Good shots were celebrated, mistakes were forgiven and prizes given out. In one case to the wrong person so read on as the mistake was rectified late on Saturday evening.
4 Aces captain, Craig Leamy, led from the front on his return from vacation with a superb 40 points including 2 near pin prizes where his shots ended up right next to the hole. He took the overall win from Gido van Mastrigt who had to settle for the flight A win despite his gross 71 round and 39 points. Well done to both Craig and Gido - they were a long way clear. Gido's commiseration reward is that he makes it into the Masters by taking this final opportunity to qualify.
Flights B and C were won by Phil Mulligan (36) and Chris Brown (35) Originally the Flight C winner prize was given to Barbara Frank but a snafu due to a gremlin in the process showed that to be an error. Well done to me and to Chris and it is not all doom and gloom in the Frank household as Peter Frank was elevated to Flight C Runner-Up. The other Runners-Up and the technical prize winners are shown in the table below:
In the 2024 Team Competition the 4 Aces took the win and 10 league points, riding the back of Captain Craig's overall win, my flight win and Chris Brown's flight win. Below is a pic of half the the contributing 4 Aces. Fireballs outperformed the numerically superior Stingers to take 2nd and relegate Stingers to 3rd whilst Dragons were in 4th place this time. Congratulations to the 4 Aces - the most popular team with this author.
We continue to welcome to members to the society - Leigh Dahl, Rasmus Arvidsson, David Clarkson and James Murphy. Great to have you.
