RESULTS - Stableford and Inter-team MatchPlay Rivalry #3 Competition at Vintage on Saturday 26 October 2024

The final inter-team MatchPlay event of 2024 is in the books! It ran along the main individual event as usual on a lovely hot day at Vintage. Congratulations to Paul Wyatt who continued his recent run of good golf to take the overall win with 38 points. We welcomed back Didi Bandat, Sam Cook and Brad Sobel and were introduced to Bill Andrews for the first time. Welcome all.

The flights were won by Sam Cook (A - on his return from 4 months working in Indonesia), Mark Beaumont (B - carrying Fireballs captain, Steven, in the pair Matchplay) and Rich White (C).

In the inter-team Matchplay competition, we reduced the team sizes to 4 players per team to 1 pair and 2 singles configuration. Dragons and Stingers went toe to toe and slugged it out during an unusually long round at this course and in the end could not be separated with the final points awarded being 29 each for the team league table. 4 Aces and Fireballs contested the other match-up and captain Steven got his picks right for the Fireballs whilst Captain Craig trusted in the wrong players this time as the final score was a lop-sided 52 to 6. Oh dear.

It wasn't all doom and gloom for the 4 Aces as they easily won the regular team event where every players' score counted. Well done to them and the thoughts of what could have been will doubtless keep people awake at night. Second were Fireballs, then Stingers with Dragons bringing up the rear. Overall the Fireballs cement even further their lead at the top of the table for the 2024 comp.
