RESULTS - Londoners Club Championship Weekend at Grand Prix 25/26 November 2023

What a glorious weekend at Grand Prix with beautiful, dry season weather, some wind and a challenging golf course to separate players in form from those searching for glory. Rob Taylor rose to the challenge and takes away the coveted silverware as Club Champion. Gido van Mastrigt hit the best gross 2 day score and reclaims the Scratch trophy whilst Dietmar Bandat, Ami Guilfoyle and me, Phil Mulligan, claimed the overall wins for Flights A, B and C respectively.

Gido van Mastrigt (L) wins the Scratch Trophy and Rob Taylor (R) wins the Club Championships at Grand Prix on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November 2023

Each day was its own competition and Tad Han won both days! Congratulations to Tad - the only player under handicap all weekend. Why did he not win the overall you may ask? Sadly (for Tad) he has not played enough games in the year (6).

Tad Han (L) won both day's individual comps. Here he gets his Day 2 prize (including new LGC branded sports bag) from committee member, John Siena (R)

Here are the technical and flight winners for Day 1:

and here is the same for Day 2 plus the overall competition:

Thanks to all the committee for their hard work in organising the event. Particularly to Steven Brader and Stefan Kuhn who put in great efforts with the course and the hotel, food and beer. Shout outs to Mike Muehleck for the copious home brewed beer and to Dow Bhuchongkul for her help in liaising with Grand Prix and getting us good tee times.

In the Team Event, it was business as usual for Dragons as they won on both days from Fireballs. 4 Aces and Stingers shuffled around at the bottom of the pack on both days. Last event in 2 weeks to settle the inaugural Team Competition.

The next event is the Scramble and registration for that is already open. Read about it here and sign up on True Handicap.

Thank you to everyone for coming to the Club Championships and helping to make it another great Londoner event. See you next time,
Phil
